A Message From David Evans…

As we approach this crucial election, I want to speak directly to the people of Juan de Fuca - Malahat about the choices before us. For too long, political conversations have been dominated by fear—fear of splitting the vote, fear of what might happen if we step away from the status quo. But elections should be about hope. They should be about voting for what you truly believe in, not settling for something less out of fear.

I hear from many of you that the NDP no longer represents the progressive values that once defined it. Despite holding power, they have grown distant from the people they were meant to serve. Instead of championing bold, transformative policies, they’ve become complacent, more interested in maintaining control than pushing for real progress. They defend their record, but who is defending you?

The truth is, there is no incumbent in this race. This is an open seat, and that presents a real opportunity. The question is: who will you trust to stand up for you and your family’s needs? I am running because I believe that this community deserves more than just lip service. You deserve an MLA who will be on your side—who will listen to your concerns, fight for what matters to you, and never put the government’s interests ahead of yours.

The BC Greens will not form government in this election - but that’s not the point. What matters is having someone in the legislature who will hold the government accountable, not someone who simply toes the party line. As your MLA, I will do just that. I will ensure that the voices of Juan de Fuca - Malahat are heard, and I will push for policies that reflect our community’s values.

This election is about voting your conscience. It’s about voting for the future you want to see, not for what you think is “safe.” The fear of vote-splitting has been used for too long to keep people from voting for what they truly believe in. It’s time to reject that thinking. Your vote is powerful—it should reflect your hopes, not your fears.

Together, we can build something better—a government that truly serves the people, and an MLA who is accountable to you. Let’s vote for hope. Let’s vote for real representation.

Thank you for your trust and support.
